Republican Debate September 7 2011

Many times candidates complain that they are not given enough time during a debate, and others believe that the media can control the popularity of a candidate based upon how much time they focus on them. So I decided to figure out exactly how much time each candidate was given during the September 7th Republican Debate. I included the question time since I believe the questions posed to the candidates also are a determining factor as to how much focus is put on certain candidates. After adding up all of the time each candidate received I then converted it into seconds so I could graph it, and then I also calculated the percent of the entire debate where they we either speaking or being asked a question. Numbers were rounded to the nearest 5.

Oh, and if this is a “debate”, then it’s a pretty sad time for any sort of real ideas or disagreement. What a croc of talking points and buzzwords our elections have become. There wasn’t much of a debate at all, just candidates getting time to speak about what they wanted to speak about.
